It was a cool, windy ride to Wimberly yesterday to meet up with a friend from Massachusetts! We had not seen each other since 2013. It was my first time in this little town, which strongly reminds me of Woodstock NY. The layout of the town, the little shops, even the traffic!
My friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, and I enjoyed lunch at the Wimberly Cafe discussing her upcoming plans to motorcycle through Africa. She has survived cancer since we last saw each other and she has determined to live each day to its fullest as a result. Waiting to do the things she has dreamed of may mean never. |
Her little Yamaha 250 enduro carried her down from Boston "through everything Mother Nature could throw" at her as she makes her way to its shipping port to Cape Town.
Wimberly is punctuated by boots (Woodstock is similarly endowed with guitars!) and my friend looked wistfully as we explored a shop boasting a "boot whisperer", claiming to fit the proper boot just by looking at a customer's feet. The cancer treatment has left her with neuropathy making it difficult to walk and impossible to wear many styles of footwear. |
