_Day 32 - 16 July - 303 Miles
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore
_The Road
There is alot of farmland along US 20. Chris would have absolutely loved it! Some towns seemed to have as many Mennonite horse and buggies on the road as motorized traffic! So where are the pictures? While digital photography in many ways simplifies sorting through the literally thousands of photos taken on this trip, some still get lost. Although we had two cameras and three camera phones on this trip, there were moments of laziness when duplication seemed pointless ... NOT! It seems appropriate to pass on a few tips here: 1) Synchronizing the times on your cameras helps organize photos from several devices. 2) Magnets do not mix well with memory cards! 3) Have extra memory cards on hand. Having a photo shop download them to CD for you can result in errors, lost information, and even lost pictures. 4) Set your camera to “series” rather than “date” format to conserve room on your memory card. It’s also easy to spot lost photos by missing numbers in the sequence. 5) Keep a master file of all photos, in lieu of having negatives. The Parks It was late when we arrived at Indiana Dunes. The campground was full so we busied ourselves finding a place to stay. The Visitor Center was open for a program, so the Ranger gave us some ideas of places to check out. Lodging Sand Creek Campground has a heavy Christian Revival theme and lots of mosquitos! We chose a more private site back in the woods. |
