_Day 51 - 04 August - 304 Miles
Lewis & Clark - Chamberlain SD
_The Road
There are interesting places along I-90 through South Dakota, shops, museums, and the 1880s town that is used for filming Westerns. Even the rest areas can be interesting. The Parks River access from the interstate is easy in Chamberlain, though a bit like riding motocross. We made three stops along the Lewis & Clark Trail; Sioux City IA, Ponca NE, and Chamberlain SD ... and neglected to get stamps from any of them! At least I got a photo in front of the trail marker at Ponca, didn’t think to ask for a NPS stamp at a State Park. We ate lunch right next to the St. Jospeh’s Indian School - Akta Lakota Museum in Chamberlain without knowing it was the stamp location. Lodging Onward to Pipestone MN. The Arrow Motel was one of the nicest rooms we’ve had with our less than $50 budget. It is along the route to the park and only a few minutes from the entrance. |
