_Day 66 - 19 August - 172 Miles
Morristown
_The Road
US-206 to US-202 provided a somewhat scenic foray through New Jersey to the Morristown NHP. From there I-287 led into New York State, where I knew my way through the back roads. Shortly after turning onto US-208 I was stung by an unknown insect. This happens several times a riding season with nothing more than enough pain to get my attention so I get rid of the critter. This was different! Initially, I thought my synthetic shirt was on fire from a cigarette butt thrown from a vehicle ahead of us. The welt was already the size of a quarter, spanning a good 4-5 inches in diameter by time we reached Kerhonkson two hours later. The use of Thom’s epi-pen was unnecessary (this time), but I’ll keep my vest on now, no matter how hot it is! The Parks Arriving in Morristown just in time to get stamps before the museum closed was satisfactory. There are different locations for this site, Washington’s Headquarters, Fort Nonsense, and the Jockey Hollow Encampment area. Lodging Kerhonkson will be our home base for a few day excursions. Hyde Park NY and Wilton CT are within an easy couple hours. |
