Marsh - Billings - Rockefeller
Saint Gaudens NHS
_The Road
Ahhh ... the riding! Local tourist maps are available at the information centers in town and it is well worth getting off the main highways, even if we did make a couple wrong turns. The Parks Both the Marsh-Billings-Rockerfeller site and St. Gaudens are relatively close to Queechee. An old Nimbus motorcycle in the parking lot at M-B-R took up most of our time there. St. Gaudens is an artistic, architectural, and botanical paradise. From the old cars and coaches in the barn, the elaborate landscaping, to the sculptures St. Gaudens is famous for, this site has something for everyone. Lodging Crossing US-4 to Barrington NH brought us to my cousin’s. She and I are as different as night and day, yet the bonds formed in childhood make us sisters in a true sense. Deaths in the family have made this visit long overdue, and much too personal to write about in this travelogue. |
