_Day 92 - 14 September - 293 Miles
Lowell Industrial Park
_The Parks
Lowell is fascinating. As much a history of the town as of the industrial age, a day isn’t enough. We had a long ride ahead, so got our stamp and moved on. The Road US-20 in eastern Massachusetts is miserable with traffic! It becomes interesting through the Berkshires in western Mass. It was getting dark by time we dropped down US-7 to Route 23 back through New York. Cold and tired, paying a toll to zip down the New York State Thruway (I-87) from Catskill to Kingston made sense. Lodging Home in Kerhonkson again. There is so much I need to do here and the summer is gone. Finishing this ride takes priority this year. Next summer I must content myself to just staying at the house and taking care of things so I can put it on the market. I love this house with its old woodwork, plaster walls, and odd angles. I played here with a friend when in Kindergarten, and raised my own children here. Sweet nostalgia gives way to new dreams. |
