The Road Home
_Day 128 - 248 Miles
The Magnolia Festival was taking place at Live Oak. It would have been a great ending to the trip, however $95 tickets were beyond my means at this time and spent $35 on a room instead. Rosie started acting up again, not wanting to start like her battery was low. Sure enough, it needed water again. She popped right off once it was filled. Day 129 - 220 Miles At least Rosie picks parking lots to be cantankerous in! She started fine to move away from the gas pumps in Ponce de Leon, then nothing when we were about to leave. A local biker put me in touch with a mechanic he knew and it was determined her battery was stone cold dead. Her coil wires were arcing also. After getting a new battery and changing her wires, the mechanic and his wife were kind enough to put me up for the night. Of course, I made it obvious when I called my mom and let her know where I was and who I was with. Day 130 - 463 Miles This was the longest single day of the trip. At this point I just wanted to get Rosie home and passed up a night at the beach outside Gulfport. Somehow it seemed fitting to watch the sun set as I turned onto LA-1. |
