_The Doctors
Respiratory arrest. Med-evac airlift. Oh My God! Having worked in hospitals for 30 years, this is familiar. It’s different when it’s a friend! The Road Rosie broke her throttle cable on my way over the mountain to the hospital. There was one good rise that kept me from coasting all the way back down into Kerhonkson. My Dad came to the rescue. A retired road racer and motorcycle shop owner, he rode her home manually operating the throttle with the broken cable wrapped around his hand. I learn new tricks all the time! Lodging Before beginning this trip, Thom asked me to promise to get him home if anything happened to him along the way. That is part of the purpose I co-founded the Fallen RidersFoundation of Central Louisiana for. Anyone without other means from, or riding in, CenLa that is killed or too injured to get home will be assisted. Thom is my riding partner. There is no way I would leave him stranded, even if it means delaying the rest of this trip. |
