Day 7 - SN17 - Lakewood - Golden
We were very impressed with the breakfast that was laid out! Lots of choice, from bisquits and gravy to fresh fruit and bagels, buffet style until 11 am for the late risers.
We took a ride out to Dollar Tree on S. Golden Blvd. to get some laundry soap, batteries and a few other things about 9. Skye followed me over into Lakewood to 21st and Kipling to see where her Dad and I lived when I got pregnant for her.
The house across the way, where we first lived, then was occupied by John and Cindy, is now a counseling center with a privacy fence separating the two. looking from the driveway, the one we lived in from '78- '80 still looks pretty much the same. The fence makes it feel closed in though.

Skye wanted a new rear tire and I had seen a Honda dealer over on Wadsworth when I looked them up. We figured we might just as well ride over since we were so close. In addition to the tire, they gave her an estimate on her front fender and checked the wheel for damage. Thankfully that fiasco in LaJunta wouldn't compromise our ride! We had lunch at Danny's Carnation while we waited for her bike to be finished. It was an enjoyable interlude.
Patti set up our vendor's table when she returned from her ride to the Coor's Brewery. We got back just in time for the start of the symposium. Skye was pleasantly surprized when she won the $100 door prize! Cat's presentation was on "Riding with Interesting People" followed by a Safety presentation by The Two Lisa's. They spoke of when it is necessary to make "that" phone call, and my PTSD kicked in way harder than I would have imagined! I took our clothes and went downstairs to hide out in the laundry room. Skye knows my "tells" and followed me down, staying to help me lighten up and not sink into it.
By time laundry was finished, vending was closed. Patti got swamped and was a little put out that we didn't go help her. Though we're in the same chapter, we don't know each other that well and it was just too much to try to explain.
We went outside to chit-chat with the other ladies in the smoking area. A young man by name of Ozzie came over scrounging cigarette butts. Diane gave him a few fresh cigarettes and he sat talking with us a while. Food was scarce at 10 pm so we had a pizza delivered from Big Daddy's.
