Key West & the Southern Most Point - 07 November 2013

Shanna Key Irish Pub, Key West

As we were headed for what we had been told would be free motorcycle parking on Key West, we spotted an Irish Pub called Shanna Key!  Laughing, I looked at Skye (Shana Leigh) and told her I thought we should check the place out for lunch!  She agreed.
It was fairly quiet inside, and the food was wonderful!

The directions we had been given for parking led us to Truman Annex.  There was a boat show in progress but $5 still allowed us to park all day, while we explored on foot.

Our first impression was that the area very much reminded us of the Garden District in New Orleans, though I think overall, Key West is much cleaner!

This was our first trip, ever, to the Keys.  Like anywhere, it is impossible to see and do everything in one day, even in such a small area!

We found the "End of the Rainbow" at the Kapok Tree.  Long before we got close enough to read the signs, there was the impressions of tree spirits looking out at us!

We went past Ernest Hemmingway's home and the Lighthouse Museum ...

Trekking back across the island, this time down Duval Street, we visited a few of the shops.  Coffee; key lime pie; a French bakery to get pastries for breakfast ...

We arrived at the opposite shore a bit late for the sunset, but in time to catch the fire dancers.  This is one of the areas we had hoped to spend more time at!  Past dark, with a long ride back to Marathon, we set out for our return to Tropical Cottages.
The Cracked Conch Cafe was chosen by default, it was the only thing (not fast food) still open and serving!  It was THE BEST FOOD we had on our entire trip!
