My brother, Alec, and I have put on quite a few miles together, mostly wandering back roads. I am amazed at how often we are able to find roads unfamiliar to us still, within an hour or two of home! Often, after a ride, we sit down at google maps and try to find where we were. I've recently come across a program that has the ability to track our rides, Rever.co
As far as I can tell, tracking only uploads after a ride is "finished". I wonder if I were to "fall off a mountain" so to speak, if my tracking data could be accessed to locate me? Three times over the past few weeks, I've seen Alec have some very close calls! A pick up truck made a left hand turn so close in front of him it almost looked like the truck aimed for him (we were the only ones on the road)! On a back road with no lane markings, a truck came flying around a blind turn hogging the road, fortunately we were on bikes and had room to squeeze past! Then on a state highway, a girl drifted into our lane around a turn ... texting! Alec's yell got her attention in time for her to correct her position. In every instance, had we been in a four wheeled vehicle, an accident would have been unavoidable for lack of maneuvering room.
