All Mick White Wolf wanted was a home and family. Shortly after we met in the spring of 2006, he bought his house on Old River in the Spring Bayou WMA. He gifted Rosie, a ’95 883 Sportster, to me that Halloween for my 49th birthday. He had also purchased a 100th Anniversary 883 (with 1200 kit) for himself. That I rode inspired him to get back on a bike after 25 years without one, and ride he did! |
The ultimate purpose of the Fallen Riders Foundation (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) is to assure all riders better than an unceremonious pauper’s burial and/or transportation home to family. The only requirement for “membership” is to either be from, or riding in, central Louisiana. That area has since expanded to include PA, MN, and CA. We do our best to work in conjunction with other organizations of similar purpose so everyone in need has assistance.
Another aspect of the Fallen Riders Foundation’s purpose is education. Too often, people make assumptions regarding the rights of succession, only to find the laws of their state are entirely different! Legal documents such as Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxy, Living Will, and Final Will are essential to help those left survive the bureaucracy a death or brain injury entails.
October 2014 saw the second “Ride For Your Life”, hosted by the Fallen Riders Foundation. Riders from all over the state gathered to ride en masse to five locations around Alexandria LA, for the purpose of impressing awareness upon the public of how many motorcycles they share the road with. Many drivers pulled to the side of the road, as if for a funeral procession. One impatient driver nearly hit our police escort! Others stood at the side of the road and waved as we passed. Mick’s family, his legacy, is greater than he ever would have imagined! |
